Music blogging's emphasis on capturing zeitgeist - I know the term is used somewhat improperly here, but the textbook concept of zeitgeist is anachronistic because technological advances have led to a marked compression of time - makes it, at times, a maddeningly unfulfilling task. Sentient life is a string of observations, most best kept unproclaimed. The blogger's paradox is that the thoughts that are worth sharing are the slow-simmered ones, the opinions infused with nuance and inspiration, but the forum of a typical music blog demands quick and messy first impressions. Bringing a full-formed opinion to the party is like bringing a wilted bouquet.
