Song of the Day: "Warfare"

They photograph beautifully...the only argument for keeping nukes around.

I don't really enjoy Joe Budden's metaphor-porn lyrical style. Most of the time, it sounds like he takes some pop-culture reference and tries to force it into his rhymes. But, I appreciate Budden's work here (probably because of Mr. Ortiz grounding matters). I mean, how can you hate on "You ain't Kid Rock, can't box the Tommy with your hands."
Sick.

Tangent:
The reflexive response to Joell Ortiz is to compare him to Big Pun, but he's a little more than that. Sure he's got Big Pun's girth, heritage, and smirking delivery, but he also has Biggie's penchant for gritty street narratives. And Big L's ability to dismiss something with one devastating line. Maybe Joell defies comparison.

Tangent 2:
My favorite Big L dismissal is the one from "Da Enemy" when he gets pulled over by racially-profiling police officers and says:
Listen columbo you're mad because your money come slow
And what you make in a year I make in one show
I can't wait to use that one. Then immediately get Rodney King-ed.
