Thierry Cheated. C'est La Vie.
Thierry Henry - a longstanding paragon of sportsmanship - handled the ball (twice) then deftly flicked it across the face of the goal for William Gallas to knock Ireland out of the World Cup in South Africa.
And some people learned all over again that high competition is dirty business. The sanctimonious will screech about injustice and athlete's responsibility to the game. But, as a friend of mine says, to get advantage, you must take advantage. And every competitor knows the tang of ruthlessness. That's why we have referees.
Athletes cheat. Politicians lie. The subway sucks and global warming is upon us. Accept it.
