All of life is anticipation or its identical twin, dread. It's the premonition of death (white bikes, pink ribbons, and yellow crime scene tape) and all the smaller hopes and anxieties that fill the moments in between. It's the first day of school, RSVP, and unseasonably cool weather, planted seeds and your first dark suit. It's your wedding and nine months and waiting for the UPS man to come. There's no electricity in the denouement, just the drawn-out sigh of a suddenly unplugged fan or a banging hangover.
